DATES

01.2020-Present

I’ve been a member of my schools formula SAE electric racing team since not long after my undergraduate degree began. I’ve been lucky to hold a variety of positions over this time, from a core member, to Mechanical Subsystems Lead, to Team Principal, and have been involved in a variety of projects spanning all across our vehicles. In my time I’ve been lucky to be a part of our team growing immensely in size and capability, going from a non-running legacy vehicle to a legitimate competitor in a short span.

These days, I’m acting in an advisory role on the team, assisting in the design of critical components across the vehicle, participating in vehicle dynamics work and improving standards where possible across the team. I’m hoping to shape my final year thesis around the team this year.

Over the years I’ve owned an array of projects on the team, the most significant being overall spaceframe and suspension architecture for our 2023 competition year. I own the design for critical suspension components on our 2024 vehicle currently being tested for competition in June. I also own the design for our 2022 braking system. My participation on the team stretches beyond these major projects though: I’ve come up with a lift system for this year’s aero-clad vehicle, assembled cooling loops, completed full damper rebuilds, fabricated static dampers for wind tunnel testing, you name it. My participation on this team is certainly my crowning achievement in my undergraduate degree and biggest source of experience.
