ROLE

Mechanical Design Engineering Intern

DATES

05.2023-08.2023

In my first term at Parallel, most of my work had to do with development and verification of the company’s prototype vehicle. This included ownership of:

A vibration test jig for axle-mounted components with requirements to see random vibe levels in excess of 100g RMS. I owned the design of all jigs necessary to complete this test:

  • Modal and random vibration analysis of all components to be tested, as well as frequency response analysis of peripheral components

  • Construction and use of peak response calculator to estimate response across chain of components

  • Linear structural and modal analyses of jig components based off of peak response calculations

  • GD&T

A new tone ring design for the vehicle’s anti-lock braking system. This was needed in order to add “hot swap” functionality in the field that meant some careful GD&T. This also included a decent span of hardware testing to learn what geometry the hall effect sensors could tolerate.
